Another rad friend joins the freckled masses, and submits to my wile freckly hunting ways. Say hello to Allison and her freckles, glasses, and total awesomeness.

We took a stroll through her neighborhood, Bucktown, looking for some old beat-up garages and walls but were mostly thwarted by new constructions, renovated alley structures, and the general upkeep of the area around her; Seriously, it is getting harder to find interesting grimy and cool backdrops for this, though I guess that is part of the fun of shooting sort of from the hip. A lot of the time was spent catching up and chatting it up but we managed to find a couple of locations that were what I usually want. This time a corrugated fence for a clean pattern, and the edge of this building that was painted black and was splotchy and dirty.

This is the head end of the sunny months for us midwesterners and so the freckles are not in full force but they are there and they look great! Next up I think I need to drag my sister out to get some pictures of her freckles, little red-headed child that she is, you should note she is the older sibling.

My very talented friend Bree asked me to help her with her head shots and I of course am always happy to help!

We drove around Lakeview and Lincoln Park looking for places to shoot these, and we came upon this little alley I had spotted a few times before but had not had a chance to shoot in it. The pictures you see here are the ones we shot in the alley.

So For the third year in a row I took my brother to C2E2. Every year I pack my camera with and try and get fun pictures of the cosplayers at their best, though maybe next time I should go for all three days, there is so much to see and so little time in one day!

Enjoy my favorite shots from this year, and be sure to check out the rest on flickr

New Year, new freckles… OK OK, so its freaking March, I know, but did you go outside today? It was absolutely beautiful, sunny and warm. I even walked out in a t-shirt.

I will never say that Facebook is a useless site again; I found, or rather Sarah found me through my friend Ian Merritt, and contacted me wanting to participate in my little project.

These were taken in and around the Lincoln Square area, nice walking and some awesome textures to be found in the alleys. I know people want their neighbors to fix up their properties but I really love those dilapidated falling apart garages, fences and walls, keep ‘em coming Chicago.

Shooting a graphic design portfolio sure is an experience, a really fun experience!

Amanda, who is a friend of my wife, and a damn good designer came to me for help with photographs fo her portfolio. We spent a saturday afternoon trying out different ways to shoot each piece and trying to come up with a look that Amanda was happy with, we came away with, in my opinion, some really fantastic shots.

I shot this pretty much all handheld because we were not sure exactly what look / angles we were going for. Lighting was handled by a AB400 with a Beauty Dish with sock attached.

Enjoy the photos and if you are in need of an awesome graphic designer let me know and I’ll put you in contact with Amanda.
